OF THE HOLY SHROUD

TURIN 2015 MOBILITY

SPECIAL

For Turin 2015 is a year full of events

and has been organised to meet the

transportation needs of visitors, citizens

and tourists.

The city is ready to welcome the many

pilgrims expected between the 2015 spring

and summer in the best possible way:

an extraordinary year for the provincial

capital, full of great events linked to

religion. From 19 April to 24 June the

Holy Shroud is on display in the Duomo

(Cathedral) and celebrations continue until

August for the two hundredth anniversary

of the birth of Don Bosco; events, the

Ostension and the Salesian Jubilee ,

honoured by the visit of Pope Francis to

the city, scheduled for Sunday 21 June.

Turin has taken care of preparing every

aspect to welcome pilgrims, starting

from the organisation of a mobility plan,

designed to address the need to quickly

and easily move around the city, favouring

the choice of solutions with a low

environmental impact.

GETTING AROUND ON

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

It is recommended to use the public transport

network to get around the city (1 automatic

underground line, 8 tram lines and 83 bus

lines) that operate every day and also in the

evening (see annexed maps). Furthermore,

there is a special Nightbuster network that

operates every Friday and Saturday night.

Anyone with a smartphone may also use the

GTT Mobile

and

Moovit

apps to calculate

the routes and know the transfers in real

time. There is also an active sms service to

organise your travel:

with the

number or name of the stop (indicated on the

pole), you can acquire real time information

on the transfer, number of stops etc.

To quickly cross the city from north to south

you can use the SFM Servizio Ferroviario

Metropolitano (Metropolitan Railway

Service): there is a train every 8 minutes

during peak hour that links the stations of

Stura, Rebaudengo, Porta Susa and Lingotto

in 15 minutes. With SFM, it is also possible to

reach many tourist spots around Turin.

INCREASE

IN PUBLIC TRANSPORT

During the Ostension of the Holy Shroud

lines 4 and 13 will be increased and there

is a shuttle that links the Pellerina car park

to the Giardini Reali (Royal Gardens). The

Duomo can also be easily reached with the

new tramline number 6 that links Piazza

Hermada to Piazza Statuto passing by the

train station of Porta Susa. All the main lines

and the underground will be increased for

the Pope’s visit.

The underground will stay open until 12.30

am on 22 June.

TICKETS

Various types of tickets are available in Turin

to meet different needs:

Ordinary ticket:

valid for 90 minutes

on surface lines and one ride on the

underground — €1.50

Shopping ticket:

valid for 4 hours between

9 am and 8 pm— €3.00

Electronic carnets from 5 to 15 runs:

€6.50 — €17.50

Daily ticket:

€5.00

2-day ticket:

€7.50

3-day ticket:

€10.00

Integrated U ticket:

valid for 90 minutes

on surface lines, underground (1 run) and

for one run on train lines within the city

boundary of Turin — €2.00

There are also several types of pass for those

who want to stay for more than 3 days.

To celebrate the Ostension of the Holy

Shroud a special ordinary urban ticket has

been designed, available at all points of sale.

CAR-PUBLIC TRANSPORT

INTERCHANGE

Visitors arriving from outside the city by car

may park in 3 park and ride areas and then

reach the city with public transport. If you arrive

from the north there is the Stura car park and

the car park in front of the Auchan supermarket

(on public holidays), from the south there is the

CaioMario car park and fromwest the Pellerina

and Venchi Unica car parks.

The park and ride car parks are linked at

the meeting point for the visit to the Holy

Shroud at the Giardini Reali, by line 4

(Stura, Caio Mario and Auchan car parks),

by the underground and line 13 (Venchi

Unica car park) and by a special shuttle

service (Pellerina car park).

On showing your booking for the Holy

Shroud, it is possible to park for free in the

park and ride car parks and buy a daily ticket

that is valid on all the transport network (bus,

tram and underground) at the discounted

price of €3.00 (instead of €5.00). Visitors from

Turin and from the bordering towns may use

the underground ring car parks in the city

centre and reach the meeting point with the

Star line. The Star line is free for those who

use the ring car parks.

Furthermore, there are electronic displays ad

variable messages at the entrance of the city,

providing real time information about traffic

conditions in the city; you can also visit the

CONNECTION

TO COLLE DON BOSCO

On Saturdays and public holidays, to mark

the bicentenary of the birth of Don Bosco,

you can go to Colle Don Bosco with public

transport until 16 August.

HOWTO REACH COLLE DON BOSCO

From the Turin railway station of Porta Susa

take SFM line 1 and get off at Chieri

From the station of Chieri take the Shuttle bus

to Colle Don Bosco

The shuttle offers the opportunity to reach

the Colle (Hill) dedicated to the Saint,

located in the municipality of Castelnuovo

Don Bosco, to take part in numerous events

linked to the celebrations of the bicentenary

of the birth of Don Bosco.

FARES

To arrive in Chieri from Turin by train +

shuttle, you must buy an integrated B ticket

(€3.00). To travel only on the shuttle you must

have a 3-area GTT one-way suburban ticket

(€2.30). Those in possession of a Formula

3 pass (A-F-G zones) coming from Chieri

and those with a Formula 5 (U-A-F-G) pass

coming from Turin may also use the shuttle.
